Not So Fast

According to translations of recently uncovered documents from 2006, Toyota engineers uncovered a software glitch that could cause "sudden unintended acceleration" in a test vehicle. Whether or not this directly relates to the issues later discovered in Prius models is unclear. It is possible that Toyota executives assumed that Americans' love of the TV show "Knight Rider" would imply they would be OK with their cars speeding up on their own.
